Video: Masagin – Nvision 08 Invitation by Farbrausch & Neuro

I had a crazy day, just as crazy at that Farbrausch invitation demo for the Nvision 08 party. I had my first class at 8:15 (Corporate Finance). I slept 2 hours since I had to deliver a paper later the day, and when I got up finally, heading straight to the mirror, I immediately got reminded of that nice movie called Dawn of the Dead.. although there was still a lot of blood within my body, at least when I looked into my eyes.. heh. You cannot belive how much a coffee helps here. I have survived the class although I must have looked very funny, as Yusuf had to laugh constantly during a break while we have been sitting in the sun in from of the Kjelhuset building.
Back at home: Henrique finished planning our England trip we scheduled London->Stonehenge->Glasgow->Edinburgh->Manchaster->Dublin for November ..full-tour… gooodie! Few minutes later a UPS car stopped by with a guy coming out holding something suspiciously looking like a book. The corporate fiance book I ordered my from UK last Thursday arrived amazingly fast, for 327 kr including shipping (prize at the bookstore here: 605 kr). He said they have been lookig for me and already called a guy called “Christoph Johann”. My family name seems to sound just too crazy for some guys here so they are taking “Johann” instead.. hehe.
I had another class in the afternoon going till 18:00 and I decided to do my laundry thereafter. I like laundry rooms, I really do. During the time back in Dortmund when I had no washing machine and I had to go to the self-service laundry, I always enjoyed staying there. Hell knows why, but the hot air and the sound of the washing machines makes me feel comfortable… Anyway.. the Berg loundry room was full.. well.. not exactly full, since one machine was already done. I had the iCon book with me and decided to wait, today would be my comfortable day.. no efforts. I have been waiting almost twenty minutes already and some other machines have already done their job without the laundry being picked up, when Zoe, an English girl from the language course came, followed by a blond girl, whom I thought would be Dutch. Both had bags full of clothes. The Dutch girl immediately asked if she should take some of the loundry as she just didn’t want to wait and would do so herself. She turned up to be German, from Münster. I thanked gently. I was in a good mood and would stay reading my book. Until someone would finally come. Which happened 5 minutes later.
After setting up the washing machine I walked up the hill here in Berg where some of the people from Moholt played Chess on the bench and talked. Mehdi, a French guy, made a very tasty carrot cake and shared it with us. After some kidding around on the hill I walked down to pick up my laundry. It was ready. And the Dutch girl (I will stick to calling her Dutch right now) also appeared. As all the dryers were busy besides of one, we decided to dry our stuff together, and meet later.
I took the washing powder home and returned half an hour later. But the dryer was not ready yet, so I sat down next to the machines ad got into thinking… I didn’t sleep in the afternoon, the 2 hours of sleep the night before and the hot comfortable air in the loundry room did a good job.. and soon I would fall asleep.
When the girl arrived to pick up her stuff it was more then an hour. I felt like knocked out, so we divided the laundry. As soon as I was home I was awake. I call it laundry hypnosis. :) I felt as I would have slept the whole night.. I picked up my jacket and went for a walk to Moholt as the international basement was open. There I spend the rest of the day talking to friends and joking with Marta, a Polish girl from Warsaw.

Mehman and Elias just departed. So I sit here writing while eating pistachios..

The guys arrived Tuesday night. I picked Elias up at the bus stop in Berg at 20 to midnight. Mehman would stay at a friends place in Herman Krags vei 16-14, so he stayed on the bus to Moholt. Peter Reusch, our Professor back in Dortmund, would come on Wednesday for some guest lectures and we would have a presentation about TRIZ here at NTNU so the guys came for a visit. They brought a carton of Dunhills which is quite a good deal bringing to Norway. We took some beers up the hill here in Berg ad talked about the upcoming days, the presentation and Elias’ holidays in Greece where he just returned from. Mehman would join us some time later.. As I had my first class on Strategic Management on Wednesday morning we decided to meet at 12:30 in front of the Nidaros Cathedral the next day and went to bed.

Wednesday was about to be a nice day and I found the guys at the coffeehouse next to the cathedral, or rather, they found me. :-) We spend a lazy day, walking downtown along the river and the refurbished shipyard area with cafes and restaurants. After meeting Mingyi Su, the fourth EuroMPM Dortmund guy in Trondheim now we got us some food and went for the meeting with Peter at 16:00. It was decided to make a 10 minutes TRIZ introduction on the next day, so we picked up the most important slides from our 5 hour TRIZ seminar we had in Dortmund before and decided to keep quiet for that evening.. then Mehman surprisingly appeared again with Eldar! He is Aboula’s brother, the guy Mehman is staying at and Mehman’s close friend. He is also from Azerbaijan, works for the local oil company here in Norway and came to join us for the weekend!

Thirsday. Guest lecture by Peter from 10:15 till 12:00 and the introduction of new PM students in Trondheim including our presentation starting at 16:00. In-between we had a walk to the Kristiansten Fortress. The presentation went fine with the people being quite interested in the 40 Principles, then pizza and a group exercise to build catapults out of some sticks and stones. Then the evening would come; at the Downtown Bar.. :) ..but first of all we started at the ISU Basement in Moholt with my neighbor Markus who would leave to pick up his brother from the airport, then going downtown. Nordre Gate was partially closed for cars with a concert and the stage on the street right in front on the Downtown Bar, and a huge queue.. but we managed to sneak in. ;-)

It’s Friday: 4 hours of sleep, the Project Organizations class starting at 11:15 and a meeting with Peter and some students to promote cooperation with Dortmund at 16:00.. playing Mancala with pistachios (the boards were originally brought for the TRIZ seminar and now used for socialization.. still eating pistachios) we got some payed beers and pizza.. thereafter I was wasted. Boys don’t cry: half an hour of sleep, talking to Henrique about the upcoming trip to England and I was good again, heading to Aboula’s place and the basement. After briefly checking the architecture party in Gløshaugen, Mehman, Eldar and me headed on for CRASH. Entrance kr 30, beers 49. We had plenty of fun!

Saturday: Samfundet

Sorry, but I couldn’t resist. The following mail just appeared on the mailinglist for international students:

Could anybody borrow me a teethbrush ??????’No favor will be given back ¡¡ I´m sorry because if have no money

The Silesian dinner. It’s Monday and it started pretty humble. After the hiking trip to Trollheimen my heel got really bad. It got so bad that I finally decided to go to the doctor on Tuesday.
I scheduled the event to 6pm and informed the core crew of “Moholt’s typical dinner league” about the upcoming meal. Since some of the people living in Moholt Alle have a dishwasher in their Kitchens, which would make the cooking party far more comfortable, I decided to ask Marco and Anna about cooking at their place. Zuza also volunteered to help which was very nice as it all would take some time. Right after classes then I went to REMA with Markus to get the right stuff. Hehe.. ever tried to explain Paniermehl in English? I paid roughly kr 300 for everything which would make almost 40€ (300 / 7.8) but we would be 16 in total, kr 20 for each. Quite reasonable.

I was up to make Kluski, the Silesian Noodles with a fighting plan as follows:

Kluski
Köttbullar
Mustard Sauce
Cowberry Marmalade

Salad: Lettuce, bell pepper, onions and apples

We went to see Rosenborg BK, the local soccer team playing today. The team is quite famous over here (even managed to win against Dortmund once) and were among the UEFA Intertoto winners in 2008. The Lerkendal stadium is just few hundred meters away from my place in Berg and we got some promotional tickets from the university for just kr 50 so it was worth.
I met some people down at Bunnpris at 6pm, we stopped by to get us some øl for motivation and went on to meet the rest at half past to pick up the tickets at the main entrance. Beers in public are forbidden in Norway, but suddenly we indeed found ourselves being the only ones having some on the way. You would find waffles and the common merchandise booths but no beers! Ok.. moving on, picking up the tickets and entering the stadium. The place seemed to be almost fully booked but not really crowded, relaxed situation, no inspection.. lots of people with kids. We are going upstairs, want to get me something to drink, and then it got scary: no beers in the stadium.. seriously.. not a single beer stall, what a tragedy! Did you actually ever try to watch any sports.. sober?!
The stadium reminded me of the Westfalenstadion back in Dortmund, although being only a quarter of it in size. Just to finish it.. Rosenborg finally lost 2:1, but the other team was playing quite good. Well, maybe next time..

It’s Tuesday, Tirsdag in Norway. I am staying home. My leg is still bad and I want it to be healed soon as the situation annoys me, so I am cooling it with ice bags in meantime. I would like to mention the powerful fridge in the kitchen over here, you could freeze you an Ötzi the Iceman in few seconds.
The sun is shining and I feel like being brought back to old student days: Ate some frozen pizza (not comparing it to what I have on my leg) and talking to some oldschool demoscene friends in a channel called “hier sind wir die wissen wie geht” while finishing my CV and blogging in meantime. Frozen pizza and demoscene, heh, both I haven’t done for quite a good while.

Today we went on the Museum trip to Kystens Arv where we should learn more about the old coastal culture about the district (that is how it was described in our social program schedule). I got up at 8:30, meaning an hour before the bus would leave in Berg, in order not to miss it. I perceived the bus driver’s accuracy two days before when I arrived at the station 4:17 instead of 4:15. (That day the bus was gone but fortunately my neighbor appeared in his car asking me if I would like to join them for the lake; which provided me an alternative social event). I also had to care of another predicament that has happened the same Thursday: I landed badly on my heel after some drinking games at Emily’s place (damn games) and would be only able to hobble. Anyway.. I got the bus.
The museum wasn’t really big over there but we got some clinker-built boats to see (a construction type already used by the Vikings centuries before) and how they were built these days. As our group got divided into three we got plenty of time in between to catch some sun (as the clouds were arising in meantime) and to relax (also good for my foot). Here I would also learn that there is another person writing a blog, whom is Peter Dollfusz. After some time we would be picked up by the bus and taken to a nearby harbor where a boat belonging to the museum was already waiting.
The boat which was 16 meters in length and had a mast about the same, seemed indeed quite small as we have learned at the museum before that these were used by 6 men to sail about 900 km up to Lofoten, where they would go for fishery. (As explained in Johan Bojer’s book Den siste viking.) After the sailing trip and a barbecue back at the museum (I am taking a pølse break right now; decided to go for hamburgers next time) we came back at 7:30. As we were dropped at Bunnpris down the road I took the chance for shopping: kr 114.5.
