The Munkegata Chronicles: In the Age of the Smart Machine

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

This research is about software development teams using the iterative Scrum development process to organize their tasks – and about the software tools used to support these tasks.
You might have been wondering why nothing happened here for some time. The reason for that is quite simple: my thesis. As I am currently writing my master thesis here which I have to deliver till June 15th (2 months left… uuhhh, scary) it gets harder to write additional stuff on the blog. I am getting quite good into the topic now and decided to write about communication technology and team structures in Scrum. Communication on one hand as during the interviews for the technology acquisition project we worked on last semester (with Mingyi) we found out that digital transmission and storage of information (requirements, specifications, changes) is still an issue within projects, team structures on the other hand as I would like to find positive group characteristics within Scrum teams.
I have read a lot within the last weeks, countless papers on Scrum and team effectiveness, on work psychology and collaborative software. I wish I could read faster, and more effectively. Especially the psychology class (I enrolled for risk communication and team processes, and a course about industrial marketing) makes me interested, I will be able to use the term paper for the subject within my thesis.
I have another issue to deal with currently: job search. I am graduating in summer and the whole financial crisis doesn’t really make me feel comfortable about it. I have sent out a couple of applications now, screwed up one, now waiting for the remaining answers and constantly checking new opportunities. It eats up a lot of time though as I am writing the thesis and trying to make the applications sound as good as possible. I have even set me up an application homepage with the CV and additional information, but that doesn’t really seem to give the desired effect. I have set up a profile at monster and applied for England and Norway until now. Applying mostly for software engineering and consulting jobs. I am even considering to hire some career guide. Any further ideas here guys?
It is amazing how fast the winter disappears in Trondheim. All these huge piles of snow just unbelievable chained to the landscape constantly disappear inwardly.
